Do I REALLY necessitate surgery for my fractured spinal fusion?
I have...
Scoliosis, mild Spina bifida, disk depletion disease and osteoarthritis. I have had 4 surgeries to sustain correct my scoliosis. By the age of 19 I was diagnosed with disk depletion disease and needed my 1st spinal fusion. I needed another fusion again 9 years later.
I immediately have a fracture in the 1st fusion. I have ALOT of anguish and was told by my surgeon that the pain I am feeling is NOT cause from the fracture. So why exactly am I having the surgery then?
Does anyone actually KNOW what the drawbacks would be to NOT hold the surgery?
Thank you for your time.
Michelle
Answers: I doubt that anyone on this forum can really answer your questions. Much of this is between you and your doctor. Ask him,if your pain isn't caused by the fracture, what is cause it? He also ought to know what would happen if it isn't re-fused. (Could you have it done arthroscopic?)
I have one stratum that isn't fused and it plays a part in the pain I hold. But since everyone's scoliosis is different and the places giving you pain are different than mine, it would be foolish of me to sound like I know more than I do almost *your* situation.
