Has anyone hear of TFAS the flexible spinal collective, used for lumbar stenosis?

My boyfriend was offered this as part of a clinical trial in lieu of laminotomy laminectomy (potential fusion)...it's an appliance placed contained by the back, instead of fusing 3 vertebra it goes between two and it allows a nearly full range of motion. It's untried, but I wondered if anyone else had gone through this procedure?
