Herniated Disc L5/S1, I hold minor aching surrounded by wager on and going for a chiropractor who is specialize contained by spinal core ?

July 2008. I got injured pain was so intense that I could not hike, sit and even laying down was hard for me, but better than other. The strain shoots down to my right leg
I live with Med for 1month then when to a pain regulation. He injected that "steroid" and within a week I was able to amble and sit.
However, as of today I still feel some numbness in my right leg all the process to my toes, here and there some back pain. I hold try acupuncture, PT, till now i feel the same channel. Now I'm going for this "state of the art" machine that decompress the spinal cord.
Does anybody has experience with this?
I know is expensive because insurance don't cover this. but if it help then so be it.
Thank you very much..

Answers:    Be very mean with the chiropractors,, I would only go to one if a TRUE doctor referred me. I let one treat me for a cervical spine injury and he is partly responsible for me being disabled.

Okay here is the traffic. If this computerized traction device were so wonderful why aren't the insurance companies picking it up? The answer to that is there are no conclusive studies that show that it works. I am not an proponent of the cortisone injections either. They have not been shown to work and once started they are going to own to be done for a long time. Stay with the physical therapy and if it is not working next to that particular therapist try another one. Sit down with the analyst and talk to them about what they would do. You want a therapist explicitly going to do hands on work and not with modalities. You want someone that is going to try to grasp the fluid portion of the disc back away from the nerves. That sometimes takes some doing and in other cases it moves much quicker. You didn't state your age, consignment, or state what kind of physical condition you were in. All of that also matter. Muscular balance also plays an important role in this. Weakness surrounded by certain groups places a greater strain on the pelvis and thus the lower back. See a neurologist about your condition. They will evaluate you and since they don't do surgery they own no vested interest in doing so. Again try the therapy again and since you are willing to spend the money consider acupuncture. Find a practitioner that have at least five years experience. Did you try a second shot? Usually we do 2. If there is relief, sometimes the 2nd will minister to longer. I can think of no point where a chiropractor or any kine of machine is going to serve a herniated disc. The disc is damaged. Many, many, many times this situation will resolve itself over time. If not, surgery could be needed to resolve the problem. If you want to spend big bucks on something that I would be a few paychecks won't work, them dance ahead. Personally I'd stick with the PT, pain management, and a dutiful otrhopaedic surgeon.
