Answers: I'm so sorry to hear that. Yes it is life-threatening, but in attendance are antibiotic to treat it and other things they can do to help her fight. Pray if that is what you do and be supportive to your parents. Give and bring lots of hugs.
My stepson had bacterial meningitis. He got well, but be left with a bit of hearing loss. What it does is generate the thin membrane layer that surrounds the brain swell. When the brain gets sick, things that the brain controls can be artificial like hearing and muscle control.
With a lot of not easy work, your sister can beat this, but I won't lie to you. This is serious. Thank goodness we own such good doctors. They will do their very best.
Please do keep us posted.
It adjectives depends on if they got it in time.. Best of luck hun ill pray for her.. If caught, diagnosed and treated untimely and aggressively, bacterial meningitis is usually treated successfully. The bacterial form of meningitis is far more serious than the viral form and is potentially life-threatening. How well your sister does depends on many factors including how she responds to psychiatric therapy. Keep her spirits up and encourage her to fight.
Your sister is one sick little girl. Bacterial meningitis is a killer. She should be on chief antibiotics and IV fluids in the hospital. It's pretty rare, but comes from bacteria departed on common items, like lipstick, even cans of soda. She could hold contracted it by sharing something with a friend...like drinking from the same cup.
I hope and pray she is okay. Keep us posted.
It is curable, but the nouns rate depends on a lot of factors:
Factors affecting the prognosis of bacterial meningitis are:
*Age
*Type of bacteria that cause it
*Stage of disease at time of diagnosis (spinal tap findings) the earlier the better. They look at concentration of bacteria (and related products), glucose level, and a white blood cell count to get an idea of the stage of disease
*the amount of time post treatment that the spinal fluid is cleared of bacteria (faster the better)
Some studies show that if culture experience a decreased level of consciousness and seizures surrounded by the hospital had a higher mortality rate and a higher neural complication rate.
This infection is noticeably life-threatening, but there is a standard of care for bacterial meningitis that if followed closely can increase the likelihood of successful treatment.
I would ask her physicians to explain this to you further.
Hope this help
My Mother had it when I was under nine years elderly. She was very sick but she recovered. It is very serious and yes it can be energy threatening. 3 weeks is a really long time for bacterial meningitis, especially for younger people.
There is however a large collection of antibiotics that are effective, so I would of late hope for the best and pray there isnt any permanent damage.
