How far away is a cure for paralysis cause by a spinal cord injury?
Even before I was hurt I would hear they are 5 to 10 years away and it seems similar to that is always the answer and it doesn't change. And will at hand be a decreases chance for returns depending on how long post injury you are?
Answers: A cure is always rugged to predict, but there are always major improvements. When you consider Christopher Reeve - for the average party they would not have been able to survive as long as he have with the amount of damage he had. Oddly satisfactory my brother was in a motorcycle accident months back Reeve's accident. My brother suffered brain/spinal injury. He's still doing his therapy to try to keep the muscle as toned and working as possible. And despite the final faculty of walking, better to be as prepared as possible than not. The Dr said even if a cure was found his walk would never be "normal" but even if small steps were possible it's a great deal better than the difficulty he has of moving from the wheelchair to anything else. We pray for a cure every day ... and we'll pray for you as well. Sorry if this get too long but I do understand your issues and desires.
I think it is still a long way stale. Stem cells are key, and there are like mad of restrictions on stem cell research.
