How long does numbness in bowels last after having a spinal epideral. I have a shot and I can't seem to control my bowels
Answers: If you are speaking about a lumbar epidual steroid injection and the local anesthetic has worn rotten (the one to numb the injection site)and you cannot control your bowels (meaning you have bowel incontinence), contact your physician on an emergency basis...this could be a sign of cauda equine syndrome (especially if also occuring with urinary retention) and should not come to pass with a LESI. Cauda equine syndrome is considered an emergency that could lead to permanent twist if not addressed in the first 48 hours.
