I am have spinal fusion surgery? Anyone here of anything going wrong and what?

Answers:    With any surgery, there is a risk of something going wrong.

Risks and complications of spinal fusion are:

-Failure to relieve back pain (20% risk);
-Pseudoarthrosis, which is where on earth the vertebrae do not fuse (5-10% risk)
-Smoking lowers the chance that surgery will be successfull
-Nerve damage (rare)
-If screws are used, the screw may become loose, requiring additional surgery to correct the problem
-Anterior grafts and cages may migrate.

I'd suggest chitchat to your surgeon about the risks prior to having this surgery.
