I have an injection of cortisone/steroid into my spine, and it hurt like a mother for two weeks, but the first five days were the worst! I could'nt walk since the injection, and I can walk short distances now.
I have Fibro, too.
For Fibro, I found the best entry that works for me is Guaifenesin (over-the-counter) Mucinex contains Guaifenesin. It is around $20.00 per 40 pills. Kirkland makes Mucus Relief which contains Guaifenesin (400Mg pills) and it is less expensive.
My doctor had recommended 800mg pills three times per daytime. I take two or three 400mg tablets twice per day.
My Fibro had advanced to where on earth I was getting severe cramping in rib cage (both sides), hand, toes, feet, and calves of my legs.
Rest your back and get Guaifenesin!
You will be passion better in no time!
Good luck and may God bless you.
It's normal to have cramp. you also get bad head ache. But maybe you should call your doc to get another professional evaluation. I hope you feel better soon. Is your pain different from any pain in the past the procedure? Did you stay supine for several hours after the procedure? The most common side effect is headache. If this pain is new and does not clear today, contact your physician and turn in for an evaluation.
How do you feel standing up? If you feel worse when you are on your foot, you may need to go in and seize a blood patch done.
With all my taps I have have done (which is alot!) I know it will be at least 10 days before I am back to the parkland of the living. However when I have mine done, I am having fluid removed each time which doesnt trademark it any better.
So tough it out or call the doc, but just so you know a blood patch is no picnic either!!
Good luck
Back affliction is not all that unusual after a spinal tap. I wouldn't be too worried unless of course it second longer than 3 or 4 days.
It never hurts to call the nurse and ask. The only really bad entry that I have ever had happen after one is a team leader ache from spinal fluid leaking. Since you have Fibro, your muscles could be extra rigid from the stress of having a spinal tap also. I'm sure you already know that any type of stress can cause flare ups.
Hope you discern better soon!
I suggest you go out and buy one of those Magic 8-Balls, shake it and turn it over and see what it tells you
It will be about as accurate as the responses you will receive here. And you'll have a lovely paperweight
Nah, spinal taps can be painful and muscles can be sore for days. I'd hail as your doctor to find out what additional symptoms you should watch out for and how long it's normal for the torment to last.
I don't know about you, but spending a lot of time contained by bed as well as stress and pain worsen my fibromyalgia, so you could just be have a bit of fibromyalgic backlash there, no pun intended.
Yes, it'a a Tuma! i think the question should be, 'should i be in motion and see a doctor?', though its not a much more intelligent one. obviously u should go and see a professional.
YES! Go get a 2nd feelings!! yet another sufferer here i sympathise, you will be very uncomfortable for a few days at least possible, that's to say the least with the fibro also ! rest, steal painkillers but do try to move around also its a combination of all that will soon help you back to mundane
I had a spinal tap a few years ago when I had bacterial meningitis. I don't remember premonition major back pain, but it be sore at the site where the spinal tap had be done. Of course, I was in the hospital on antibiotics and morphine, so I may not be remembering any pain! You should probably phone call your doctor and let him or her know about the pain you are experiencing. Good luck!!
