I hold have spinal fusion surgery and in a minute 2 weeks subsequent surrounded by more torment?
One my lower back bones was out of place, this also pinched and made a self-confidence rather tight, so some mornings I could not even put on my own socks, and I worked full time, Mr Bull was said to be the best chap around and surgery be strongly advised, a part of the back bone be going to be removed and this would free up the nerve, plates either side of the missing bone would hold everything together and in 6 months instinctive bone would grow around this plate and screw. This was 2 weeks ago and the pain is getting worse, N.H.S there is no after supervision and Mr Bull would not even consider seeing me for 6 weeks - Has anyone out there had spinal fusion surgery and felt similar to everything has gone wrong only to find out there be nothing to worry about. Or, as I believe, deeply to worry about.
Answers: This surgery can result in completely severe pain for some time during recovery..and perhaps for longer but if you surface that there is something wrong and your surgeon will not see you then get within touch with a solicitor, or the CAB and insist through them that you are seen at once, either by your surgeon or by whoever the hospital considers knowledgeable of giving you a proper and adequate examination and information. If you feel that something is wrong later you are entitled to reassurance..or confirmation as the case may be, and you want it on record if the hospital refuses to embezzle your concerns seriously because a court will take their negligence far more seriously if it can be clearly demonstrated. i am not suggesting that you will ever sue them, but they think you might and that is your individual power.Do involve a solicitor, see another surgeon privately if you must,but get an examination as quickly as possible .. and do not final down or assume that they know what they are doing. The fact is thet the more noise you make..short of actual shouting and harm of course, the better the care you will receive. Timid and grateful patients get treated resembling crap.
I have not had spinal fusion but have have my wrist partially fused and now waiting to have a total fusion done on it.
Two weeks is not long after trunk surgery and you will be sore. Bones, muscles, nerves and things will be starting to heal and I think this is what you are feeling.
Go to see your GP and explain how discouraging you are feeling, I am sure they will prescribe a stronger painkiller for you if you think this will give support to.Hope you feel stronger soon.
you must go to the emergency.I know someone who had spinal fusion, it is slightly painful :you should be taking painkillers, and don't move around much.
In case you have any disorientation, or may think the wound is infected(ask someone to take a look)any discharge or pus forming?
Did you have any stitches removed however?

I reminded my surgen that I was paying him to take care of me.not the other agency around,and you don't have to see him.I found another surgen to take his place and never looked back. Although I've never have spinal surgery myself, as an orthopaedic nurse, I've spent many years looking after patients who have.
Spinal surgery, especially fusion, is very throbbing. It can take quite some time before things start to settle. Patients recurrently feel immediate relief from their innovative symptoms only to find themselves in yet more strain when they get home.
However, these symptoms tend to lessen as the weeks go by to the point that they are settling by the time that you attend your follow up. That is the reason your consultant might be reluctant to see you earlier as he knows that this is a common occurence.
Spinal fusion is MAJOR back surgery though and symptoms such as frenzy should not be ignored. Your consultant will have discharged you into the care of your GP so if you are within doubt, you should seek his/her help.
Also make sure you are taking the direction of the physiotherapists to the letter. They are often the same ones that hold to work with patients following surgery whose results have not been as ably as has been anticipated because their advice be not heeded as well as it should have be.
Posture is everything - lots of standing upright, truckloads of walking, sitting bolt upright or perching for meal - no comfy chairs.
