If you are have surgery for spinal stenosis, which doctor to you pefer a nuro surgeon or orthepedic surgeon?
Answers: Orthopedic surgeon
Both are trained to operate. But I would make sure that the Orthopedic surgeon has the advanced training and skills to operate on the back. That ability that you would look for a surgeon that specializes in and does a lot of back surgery, Not purely occasional back surgery along with the more routine orthopedic procedures. If you are looking at cervical spinal stenosis, then due to the more critical character of that surgery, I would only go with a Neurosurgeon. The risks of an operative error contained by the necks are so much greater than those of the lower spine.
