Injury spinal cord?
I am 35 yrs old. I have injured in spine (L-1 vertibral collapse) on 24 Nov 2007. I enjoy taken one month rest. I am feeling pain in posterior and waiste, specially when i sit or stand for more than an hour. What can I do for speedy recovery?
Answers: I think you mean your Disc collapsed to some extent than a vertebra. This while painful does not damage the spinal cord. The vertebra collapsed would probably paralyze you, taking out nerve roots and depositing substance into the spinal canal!
First you need a MRI to confirm a collapsed Vertebra or Disc problem. They should then refer you to any a Surgeon or PT, depending on what they find. As you can stand for more than one hour, I do not see a injury to the spinal cord? However you might need pain medication, so see a Doc. Good Luck
i have similar problem i take shots in my lower back from pain headship doctor it helps for a while but comes back. sometimes I put ice on it if that doesn't work i use warmness. Lay flat and put either hot or cold rolled up to put pressure on it you will feel some relief if the distress is still there. possibly repeat xray or mri if the pain is worse or different or accompanied by any numbness or tingling. physical psychiatric help is also beneficial. they can help you work on exercises to strenghten those muscles and prevent further injury.
No, nerves transmit data they do not generate it. Spinal cord injuries are identified by the lack of information.
