Is it side effect of epidural/spinal anesthesia?

My mother is recovering from a GYN surgery she had done about 1 month ago with epidural (or spinal) anesthesia. She is complaining of numbness on her legs from the knees down.
A doctor have told her long ago that the numbness is normal and it stays for about 3 years.
True or false?
Only serious and educated answers please.
Thank you!

Answers:    Most possible peroneal nerve injury from positioning during surgery. It's not normal, and it's also not likely to be from the anesthetic.

It may be lasting, or there may be recovery with time. She should see a neurologist for a full evaluation.
never hear of that, she should call dr who administered the anesthesia..also could be loss of potassium, try eating some bananas The effect could be from the position of her body during the lengthy surgery. It wasn't the epidural. It can smoothly take years for the nerves to recover.
Too much fluid was taken from her spine probably, I don't know how they fix that. I've never hear of that before. She shouldn't have any long-term effects of an epidural. She needs to bid her doctor who performed the surgery.
