My mother is 83 and suffering from spinal stenosis. Pain meds don't work, surgery is out. Suggestions?

There are pain specialists who preform direct injections into the agony site, usually cervical or lumbar. I'm not sure what exactly they inject ,but people say it resolves their pain. Look into it:) Pain Meds? Which ones?
spinal stenosis can be smaller quantity painful if you take vicodin.
