Nape piercings = possibility of Spinal infection?
I got my nape done, and I like it alot and keep it verbs etc.
Ive heard that you could get a spinal infection from it, I also heard its an infirm wives tale.
Its close to my spine, and had gotten some infections here and there because of my long hackle, but have healed well.
Whats the possibility of me getting one?
do you know anyone beside a medical degree who might know for sure?
Im about to take it out, and I really dont want to. It looks awesome and hurt similar to Hell. But if my spine is in possible jeopardy, I'll find some other way to look cool :)
Thank You!!
It is unlikely to give you a 'spinal' infection unless the piercing certainly pierces your spinal cord or vertebrae. The spine and brain have their own protective mechanisms in relation to infections, so if you've have one (an infection) you'd know about it by now.
You could get an infection that spreads into your bloodstream and to the rest of your body, but even afterwards it may not affect your nervous system and enter the spinal cord/brain/dura mater/CSF space because of the blood:brain barrier that exists to filter out stuff.
Well, who can say, really? You do these things, and you take your chances. There's no way to predict how your immune system will handle the microbes that this will feed into your body through your broken skin. A medical degree isn't a crystal ball.
I'm waiting for a shop to own a sign out front that says, "KIDS! Be the first to show your unique coolness with a CRANIUM SPIKE! Right through the commander, from front to back! It's the new COOL THING!"
All that anything needs is to be branded "cool" and the lemmings hurdle over the cliff. <sigh>
Can a man hold sex after he's broken his hindmost and severed his spinal cord?if so can he be aware of anything?
Spinal Tumor? Damaged Nervous System?
Can individuals confined to wheelchairs due to spinal injuries still consistency...?

Choose General Anesthesia or Spinal Anesthesia?
