Spinal fusion surgery?

Has anyone had spinal fusion surgery and if so, how long is the recovery, how did you feel afterwards and be it worth it?

The reason I'm asking is because my Mom is getting it done and she is scared to death but is sick of man in pain. She don't know what to do so I thought I would ask.

Thanks

Answers:    The sad statistics on spinal fusion is lone 18% are helped and of those, many only are help for a short while. It is so much better to get alternative help first and exhaust all possibilities first past committing to this kind of abuse.

One good method is what plentiful of the athletes use, prolotherapy. Go to this web site for more information and how to get this done. I would contact these people in the past getting butchered by some surgeon first. I've actually observed a back surgery while standing along side a surgeon doing the work and it is just not something I would hold done unless it was the absolute last resort.

righteous luck to you and your mom
Many years ago, when I was 14, I had spinal fusion due to scoliosis and the recovery be 4 months in a cast. Now the casts are removable and plastic. To my surprise, I found that a character really doesn't need to have mobility in the center of their put money on. You learn to compensate by bending at the hips instead. I no longer had any back backache but I do remember painful achiness and tingling over my pelvis where they took the bone graft for the fusion "cement". That bothered me for many years afterward due to resolve irritation. But an alternate means is to use little bits of bone that are flaked off the back of the vertebra so that when recuperative occurs the flakes of bone cross and become solid.
