Did anyone else own bad constant headache after an epidural?
Whilst in labor with my first child, the hospital tried to administer me an epidural as i wasn't coping with the pain very well- the epidural didn't work, and worse of adjectives, a day or so after, i had an unbarable headache for over 2 weeks. they said that they had punctured my spinal membrane or something, and that my spinal fluid be leaking and dehydrating me or something and thats what gave me the constant headache. did anyone else suffer from this, and do any of you know any more about it

Yes I do!
My epidural be hell. They had to try it in three different vertebrae, three numbing shots, and three hollow needles.
The same thing happen to me, and my aunt is a nurse, so she explained it to me. When they hit your spinal column, it causes fluid to leak out. There is a very exact amount of this fluid surrounded by there, so when the level drops, even a bit, it causes your brain to sink into the support of your skull (the fluid is what helps hold your brain up) This in turn causes the headache, and depending on how much fluid leak out, it can cause brain damage. Scary! Mine was so doomed to failure that they actually did a procedure to fix it, which they had to do 2 times because it failed the first time. They have to take 20ccs of blood out of my arm (i hate needles) and then do the numbing hypodermic again, and then pump the blood into the puncture wound from the epidural, the blood then clots, and heals the puncture faster. And I have to do that twice!!
Total of 10 needle pokes to the spine, and 2 to the arm! HORRIBLE!
Needless to say, I don't think an epidural is worth adjectives that. Hope the info helps, and hope I didn't freak you out too much!
Also you are lucky that your headache went away in two weeks, it can ultimate over a month!!

Oh and lastly, dehydration isn't what caused the headache, but drinking plenty of water does help it restore to health faster :)
I'M NOT SURE IF IT COULD BE CAUSED BY THE EPIDURAL, BUT IF I WERE YOU, I'D DEFINATLLY TALK WITH YOUR OBGYN. it prb is from it
they may need to do what is called a patching.Try drinking alot of water
however im no doctor see one
