Spinal meningitis?

    Yeah, what about it?
That is sort of a redundant question, as meningitis refers to the inflamation of the meninges, or of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, known collectively as the meninges (and the fluid at the platform of the spine called cerebrospinal fluid, or CSF).

There are two kinds - viral and bacterial which are widely considered to be most destructive... but there are also a few other types as described in the source link below.

I had viral and this sympathetic was not as serious as the bacterial type. The bacterial type has been prearranged to cause death and even paralysis, which are the worst case scenario. This is typically treated with hydration and antibiotics and close monitoring by doctors for approximately a week depending on when you were discovered as being infectious.

However, this is typically a difficult diagnosis due to the symptoms which are stiff nouns and/or headaches. I was written off as human being sick and/or sore from sports until my spinal tap came back positive for meningitis. This is where on earth the spinal fluid is extracted in order to collect a sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for biochemical, microbiological, and cytological analysis. This will typically furnish the doctors what they need for the diagnosis but since the procedure is extremely painful and costly for them to perform and the labs ordered, this is typically a later resort. This is due to the fact they must administer morphine and put you on bed rest for monitoring for at least a day if you are suspected of infection.

I hope this help and gives you the details of what you needed, as well as links to do some research yourself. Take care,
    -G
