Answers:    My mom have spinal stenosis & had surgery right before Thanksgiving. She is feeling much better. She have an excellent surgeon, Dr. Maroon (he is the neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers) They could not do her surgery lapriscopically as she had two of the bones. She had some numbness in her foot back the surgery and had relief immediately after the surgery.
If you are gloomy with your doctor, find a specialist & get their oppinion.
You might want to find another doc or ask your current one of he'd like to trade places beside you. You are the best source of info on your pain. you decide whether alternative treatments are working. Hi, i too have spinal stenosis. i hold a synovial cyst on each L4, L5. I was on Morphine 60mg 3x a day. Made me sleep similar to a dog. So Doc took me too 2x a day. It's funny, when i went down to 120mgs a day, the agony was less. I have sciatic brass neck damage too and have had 3 lumber injections. lone one worked and work off at exactly 30 days. I don't use heat, i have a things herbal pack i through in the freezer, it can micro too. I don't know how to help except by telling you your not alone. My happen by falling into a manhole into a stormdrain up to my chest doing a spit. Sooo.it suck. I already had a fused foot, so it fractured and i had another surgery on it. It's been 3 years closing Nov. I was walking 3 miles a day, i'm diabetic, and now i did lose 25 more lbs, adjectives, but i'm mostly a couch potato. Do you have any of the same issues? Love to hear back. Honestly, i took Vicodin too and it did nil. advil works better, plus the ice. Take care, hope my story helps somewhat. You can as for a referrel to a pain management Doc. Mine is really good. I live surrounded by Pittsburgh so i see a Doc at Allegheny General. He is very through. I know how horrible the pain is...does it go down your leg? Mine make's it the complete way to my foot. Ouch! Well, hope to hear back. Take care.
here may be some info to your question on this site I found http://www.spinaldecompression.ca/? or this one...http://www.spinaldecompression.ca/?gclid... I can understand why your Dr. doesn't want you to be on pain medication for an extensive time of year of time because what is given to re-leave your spinal stenosis will affect something else in your body.

I went to yahoo search and put contained by Webmd and when that site comes up all you need to do is type in nearby search box: spinal stenosis and you will be given many alternatives for pain direction. Take some time and read around and take notes and discuss these choices with your Dr. If your Dr. doesn't interact later you would be better to get another Dr. When someone has a chronic medical problem they need to know everything they possibly can roughly speaking the problem. You will be living with this for the rest of your life and need to obtain proactive in your own treatment.
