Spinal stroke? What is it?

My uncle had a spinal stroke a couple days ago while he was on his regular morning run. his feet come out from under him and he collapessed and was on the side walk for a few hours. His friend drove by, saw him took him home and he be at bed rest for abou 30 hours. Finally they decided to take him to the ER and he had an emergancy surgary ultimate night. They told him he had had a spinal stroke while he be running. Now he has no feeling or control from the waist down (practiclly paralized). tomarrow they are doing a test to see if he will know how to walk again and possibly another surgary. This is a pretty severe spinal stroke and I was wondering what the odds are that he will saunter again?

Answers:    i think his chances are fair, in attendance are people that gain control of thier limbs from brain strokes. it will take work and determination, but near the help of his family and his occupational analyst i think he has a chance.
Sounds approaching a blood clot in a blood vessel that gives circulation to the spine...

Like when Barry Gibb had a similar problem near a "heart attack" in the intestines so to speak...ie a blood clot in a vessel serving the intestines.

It doesn't sound biddable. He needs a good neurologist, which hopefully he already has. You could form a prayer circle and pray for his retrieval.
Just like a brain stroke, the blood supply was reduced or blocked to the spinal cord. You'll have to keep on and see what tomorrow brings...
They are doing wondrous things in nerve repair with stem cell research, don't consent to this get you down.
