Spinal Tap HELP!?
Please reference my recent posts pertaining to this. After weeks of headaches, I finally went surrounded by to the ER (again) and this time numerous tests were done including a spinal tap. The Dr. explained the run of the mill white blood cells are between 0 and 5. The normal red blood cell count is 0.
Red blood cell count came spinal column normal, but
my white blood cell count was 6 (slightly above the normal range). Does anyone know if this is something majority for some folks? I'm now scheduled for an MRI so see why I'm having the headache. The Dr. did mention I had a UTI, so would that knock it out of the normal range of 0-5? This have been extremely stressful for almost 3 wks now. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much everyone!!
Answers: White blood cells surrounded by your spinal fluid is different than having a white blood cell count of 6. When they suspect people of having meningitis they look for WBC’s (white blood cells) contained by the spinal fluid because you should not really have them there. Your headache could be an indication of meningitis.
sorry your still getting headaches
maintain at them don't give up until you find cause An elevated white blood cell count just shows you hold an infection. I would just try not to stress and wait for results. I think that it's strange that you have an LP (spinal tap) for a headache but I guess I'm not a Doctor.. The MRI will help you get closure and information. Good luck.
Looking at your past question there isn't much info, if it was a a blood clot that would have be caught already. I do notice that you need to start picking best answers though.
