Spinal touch / lumbar puncture headache?
I had a LP done 2 days ago and have been lay down 95% of the time. I have had a mild headache and I'm taking tylenol. I'm wondering if this is a spinal headache? And if it is do I need to lay down flat or will it find worse? Its not bad but I don't want it to get bad. If I don't lay down is it possible that it could return with worse? I don't want to lay down if I don't need to. Thanks
Answers: I myself have had several spinal tap in my day, all of which be to check my spinal fluid for blood after a stroke. Each time I had the taps done I had a headache for a couple days while my body regenerate the lost spinal fluid. Drink plenty of water and if the pain doesn't go away within a few days call your doctor. You shouldn't have to lie down any more and if I remember correctly standing made it worse for me, but listen to your body and do what is comfortable. You'll be fine!!

I simply had a mild headache for a few days (Lyme Disease in my NS). Getting really flat for a while does help. Lumbar puncture headache are usually excruciating. However, since you had a LP only two days ago, a call to your doc is surrounded by order.
I had spinal headaches after my surgeries because i have spinal anthesia (when they numb the waist down) and I didn't lay down the first 24 hours and I developed a spinal headache. You know it's a spinal headache when you stand up your headache gets worse and when you lay down you have no headache or a slight headache.
