What does a thoratic spinal mri show? (see more of question)?
What does a thoratic spinal mri show? I just had a cervical mri and thoratic spinal mri over the weekend. I have a ton of niggle in my upper and lower back. It concerned me that they did not do the injection to so they could see more.
Anyway - it has already be shown on my MRI's that I have all Mild of the following: central strait stenosis, foriminal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and osteoartritis. And what they say that within the T4 vertebral body, there is a 1 cm mass within which they say is just probably a hemangioma, so no big deal. They influence all them things do not cause pain and the other symptoms I own, so there has to be something else going one somewhere. I have severe upper/lower final pain, neck pain, numbness contained by legs/ left arm, burning in arm and severe leg pain, etc...
So they influence that does not cause pain, but the ER doctor says it will mete out pain and an RN I talked to said it would cause anguish, even if mild. My current doctors say I should have no symptoms. So they sent me for the cervical and thoratic spinal mri. Just what could that show? Just curious for some ideas.
Thanks ahead of time. Serious answers single please.
Answers: The MRI will show any soft-tissue diseases.
And don't let them tell you those conditions don't cause affliction. Even mild osteoarthritis causes plenty of pain--I have it and I can tell you that for a certainty. So does degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis, but it is unlikely that the mass in your T4 is causing pain. However, the compression inside your spinal column could be cause the numbness. I doubt very much that these things "should cause no symptoms." Pain is a symptom--and so is numbness. And that means that within is something wrong.
Even if your conditions are mild, they will still cause you pain--but probably not to the extent you're now experiencing it. The new MRI should show them any other problems going on within your back.
I wish you luck.
I am not a doctor or in the medical enclosed space. But your symptoms and some of the things you are going through sound very familiar to me. You didn't read out what areas were previously covered by MRI,s. I am sure they are trying to find the source of the pain.
I assume you had a wreck or a slump. I was having numbness in my legs and a wide aching in my left arm. It started after a fall over five years ago. My legs were recently diagnosed as severe peripheral neuropathy due to injury. I have lower back surgery 3 years ago. They kept telling me my neck should not explanation the symptoms in my arm to the degree I described. Eventually the hand go entirely numb. Muscle tissue began wasting in the hand. Within the later few months(AFTER 5 YRS OF COMPLAINING) they focused away from my neck to the ulnar nerve in the elbow and I am still recovering from that surgery but they describe me the nerve damage is probably permanant.
Damage to the thoratic area can rationale some of your symptoms and I have never had that MRI done. I always suspected that nouns when they couldn't find the source of mine. My pain was also severe in the upper and lower rear legs. A cyst was removed during the lower back surgery. The cyst was pushing against the rudeness causing the leg pain.
Do not understate your niggle!! If asked by the doctor how you are doing tell them you are dying! Make them find it. Over the past 5 years I have be prescribed many pain medications some of which dulled the cramp.
After I finally went to a different doctor I was immediately given Neurotin which completely relieved the NERVE throbbing in my arm. Only after the pain was controlled did I realize how horrible my vivacity had been. Be patient near the doctors but be persistant and write down all of the problems you have. Keep a daily memoir if necessary to aid them. Ask the doctor if they can rule out thoracic outlet syndrome. I know that they are trying to rule out the most common causes of your symptoms which are also the easier fixed. Hang within there my friend.
Write down every pain you have. This is big. We tend to focus on the pain or pains that are worse. Write them all down so you don't forget. Good Luck.
I know for a fact that those diseases will create pain, and a lot of it. Especially the degenerative disc disease, and the osteoarthritis as well. I don't know exactly what else the MRI will show, it could be a possibility of various things. It sounds as if you have enough going on with you, that you wouldn't want to find anything else. If your doctor is relating you that you have all of these things and that you should have no cramp, you may want to find a diffrent doctor. If he says you shouldn't have as severe pain as you do, to be exact a diffrent thing. The amount of pain may indicate that there is something else they haven't see yet. I hope you find out soon, and I wish you the best of luck. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.
