What exactly, is the disease, Spinal Reticulorum?
I have recently heard of this disease, Spinal Reticulorum. It appears to affect animals and humans alike. What is it exactly? If you don't know for sure, afterwards just suppose. Tell me what you can, or what you suspect, or what you think. I'm just looking for any information on this mysterious and deeply rare illness.
Answers: Spinal Reticulorum is a debilitating neurological ccndition that affects canines and some humans. SR is cause by a bacterial spirochete which attaches itself to the reticula of the spinal ganglion. A canine exhibiting stage one SR will show the tell-tale symptom or uncontrollable seizures of the atypical protrusion of the hind quarters.
If gone untreated, SR can lead to profuse salivation, insatiable hunger, a desire to go outside, and eventually death. An infected canine may present beside thrombocytopenia (CIT) or Immune mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP). If so, the animal should be fed copious amounts of roast beef and taking for three walks a hours of daylight until these conditions resolve. If the conditons do not improve, Anal Sac Disease may develop. In which case, the anal sac must be drained manually.
A few cases in Szechuan Province China own reported transmission of SR to humans. All human cases of Human SR (HSR) have culminated in non-favorable outcomes. HSR sufferers will find it important to continually aspirate and may require defecation at least once per day. Humans infected with HSR may develop Anal Sac Syndrome (*) a complication of Anal Sac Disease. Diagnosis is competent by insertion of the capitas into the affected area.
SR is no laughing matter. If you suspect you or your animal have SR, consult a qualfiied proctologist IMMEDIATELY!
