What is a spinal headache? I assume I might enjoy one.?
Ok I had to go in for a cerclage (to enjoy my cervix sewn up to prevent early delivery) 2 days ago and I thought I was going to be put under broad anesthesia but I was given a spinal block instead. It was very rough. The day that I went home (same day as procedure) I be ok. The next day I got the worst headache I hold ever had. My head feels close to my head is about to explode. And extra strength Tylenol does absolutely zilch at all I also feel very sick to my stomach. I be told by a nurse friend that I might have a spinal headache. I already know to call my doctor I have an appointment on Friday. I do not have need of to be told that. I just want to know if anyone has had a similar problem and if so what be the cure for it? Did it work and was it painful? Oh and I am almost 15 weeks pregnant. Thank you.

I hope it is just a migraine! Those make you look for an open skylight, but they go away in a few days if you can't take any meds. send for an overnight pharmacist and ask for a c-class med for it. often times there is a safe alternative to only just takign tylenol.
good luck!
it is possible you got an air bubble contained by the spinal fluid when the spinal block was administered. The spinal fluid circulates around the spinal cord and brain and if there is an air bubble it will exact a headache when you are upright (the bubble will move to your head when you stand up) and will ease stale if you lay down. If this is the problem, lying down as much as possible for the next couple of days will help, the bubble will slowly dissapate and just fade out. Hope this helps. Unfortunately this is a very common side effect of a spinal thump, also referred to as an epidural. What happens to cause the headache is that some of the protective cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord leaks out from the puncture site. Even the loss of a few drops is satisfactory to lower the level of the fluid enough to bring this chronic type of headache on. Unfortunately, most people who obtain it have it for years.
