What is a spinal stroke?

I've watched Discovery Health the past few days and have hear about a procedure called a 'spinal tap'. It looks painful. I'm solitary 14, but I'm curious about it. If you're a person who has have a spinal tap, please give me some details in easy-to-understand lingo, instead of all that doctor crap. Thanks.
it is were they go into your spine near a needle and they pull some fluid out.and then they run some question paper on the fluid to see if you have some kind of illness. I'm a nurse, and I can address in easy to understand jargon! LOL Basically it's a long needle they insert into your lower spine. They then take some of the spinal fluid held inside of your spinal column contained by your back, and send it off for carrying out tests. It's used to test for things like Meningitis, or bone marrow transplants.
Spinal Tap
A spinal tap is an critical test for diagnosing illnesses, such as meningitis. It's a way of taking a sample of the fluid around the spinal cord. To remove the taste, the doctor inserts a very thin needle between two vertebrae (back bones) contained by the lower back. But before putting in the nozzle, the doctor numbs the skin by giving the person local anesthesia (a numbing shot). After the fluid is collected, the doctor removes the needle and applies a bandage. Then the fluid taster can be taken to the lab and examined under a microscope to learn more about why the human being feels sick. And knowing the cause of a sickness is the first step to treating it so the person can procure better.

this is a good question.
When my son was 5 weeks dated he became really sick with a high frenzy, we had to rush him to the hospital and they run all kinds of test on him. Among those tests were a spinal tap. It looks really fear-provoking, especially when it is on a tiny baby. They use it to check for meningitis. here is what they did.
They cleaned his back (all around the spine) good near some iodine or something-to get it sterile. then they put like a big quality newspaper on it that stuck like a sticker and had a hole in the middle where on earth they were going to put the needle in. after they took a long thin needle and put it into the spine and left it poking out and get a little cup and collected the drops of fluid that came out. then they took the nozzle out and i think they put a bandage on his back.
it be really scary because the patient has to be really still so they dont disrupt the nerves in the spine and my little baby didnt understand that division. It can be dangerouse.
also to add to his pain is that it didnt do right the first few times. so they did it again and again. it came subsidise negative so he didnt have menengitis after all.
