What is the salvage time for spinal surgery - thoracic spine?
Hi everyone, I am having a rough time lately. I had surgeryi n January for severe nerve compression within my neck (brachialn plexus) and still recovering. Since the surgery many more symptoms of things have appeared and getting worse. I can narrowly walk. My legs feel like they are 400 pounds and I can;t raise them to even get up one step. My feet are numb, arms are heavy, can't stretch my leg out at adjectives, and I'm having trouble breathing...I feel like I'm one squeezed to death and it hurts! I have a therapist who suspected problems surrounded by my thoracic spine all along - I was finally sent for an MRI and I was only just told the other day that I HAVE 2 HERNIATED DISCS AT T10 & T11 PRESSING ON THE SPINAL CORD! I was told that this was "potentially serious" and needed to see a neurosurgeon instantly. I am supposed to start college summer term tomorrow and don't know what to do. I think this means surgery for me - should I hold past its sell-by date on school? I don't know what to do and how long I'll be down
You must have the surgery done as soon as possible, because this is the absolute priority. The results of it will affect the rest of your go and can not be delayed. I don't know what your exact time will be however, my husband just had surgery on his T-3, T-4, T-5 to remove a tumor and they filled surrounded by the disk with cement for strenght. He had a little trouble walking afterwards and still a week following is a little unsteady but this is mainly because he let his budge so long that the nerves to his legs began to be pinched and according to the dr after this happens it takes a while for everything to start support up normally. He is also weak because his was cancer and he have been on chemo for 4 months prior but as far as pain goes he hasn't have a lot and other than the comon sense things like lifting and over doing he doesn't enjoy a lot of restrictions. I would advise you not to hesitate and don't dally another minute. Your spine is something that you do not want to mess with and no matter whether you make your college or not you do not want to termination up paralyzed. I waited on neck surgery disk pushing into spinal cord and have never be the same still have pain, severe team leader aches and ended up on disability at 47 due to loss of ability within arms range of motion in neck.
