Why are patients near psychosis silly to hold a spinal tap?
What are the dangers besides serious anxiety .Spinal headaches. Why are they not recommended and what are the other side effects and next to a Dr. that does not prescribe habit forming medications. I was within sever blinding spinal headachis for 4 days, could this cause any problems. I'm 58 yrs old and would that make the side effect worse. The hypodermic area is supposed to subside in 1 or 2 days, it's been a month and I'm still have pain in my back where on earth the spinal tap was preformed. Are the side affect compounded at someone this age.

Psychosis is not a physical illness it' won't show up in a spinal tap. When the doctors are doing a spinal tap they are looking for something like a bacteria or virus within the spinal fluid. Psychosis is caused by a chemical imbalance and that won't show up in a spinal thump. If you're still having a reaction from a spinal tap you should telephone call the doctor that did the procedure and let them know that you still haven't recovered fully and ask them what they think. I'm not sure that a psychiatrist is the doctor that you should be looking for. If you procedure wasn't done by a neurologist than maybe you should consult one. But the first entry that I would do is consult the doctor who did the procedure. I think that is the only method that you'll be sure to get the right answer.
