Xray or spinal thump?

i don't know whether i'm getting a spinal tap or xray and i'm so scared. my mom is mixed up about things sometimes so i don't know for sure.

i go to get a check up a few weeks ago and they lady told me to bend over and come up slowly and stuff. so my back turns out to be for a moment crooked. but it's not that big of a deal but i should get checked out by the hospital.

my brother's back is for a while more crooked than mines. he said we're getting a spinal tap because that's what hes heard. but i don't get it... so what do you guess?

Answers:    If they are considering a deformity in your backbone, there is no indication for a spinal hit.
We physicians are using x-ray, myelogram (also an x-ray), CT Scan and the best is MRI.

Call the doctor and ask. If your Mom can't remember, then you should ask if you need to do anything special approaching: no eating or drinking before the test.
It's most credible an xray. I DONT KNOW REALLY. but i am hoping you get an x-ray. a spinal tap hurts like hell i merely had one done not to long ago
most likely its an x-ray for scoliosis, a curvature of the spine. Spinal taps are habitually used to diagnose meningitis but you would be in the hospital if they thought you had that. I would imagine that it would only be an xray if they're just looking at your back problems, as there would be no foundation to do an LP (lumbar puncture, aka spinal tap) for a crooked back. As one other had said, an LP is usually used in suspected cases of meningitis, as the one and only reliable way to rule out meningitis is by testing the CSF (cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid retrieved from an LP), although tests on CSF can be used to diagnose other conditions as ably.
